Three years of benefits in Barnet

Accusations, regular presence, building trust and contribution to safeguarding

Problem? Pupil struggled to make healthy relationships. Accusations of sexual assault made against them. Pupils and families become concerned about this individual in school. Online abuse from other pupils and other school. Safety for the alleged perpetrator in school.

How? Support from Safer Schools Officer with all families. Regular presence in school. Trust built with families and pupils over 3 years.

Outcome? This pupil is now at PRU but in recent CIN meeting the family raised about support from school working positively and consistently with family and SSO.

When reports were referred to spanning 3 years the importance of having one SSO that works with a school are very apparent.
