Professionalising Youth Based Policing conference 2023

Awareness training for officers working with young people

On 9th October, the Met Police hosted the Professionalising Youth Based Policing online conference which seeks to upskill police officers working with young people. That includes Safer Schools Officer, Youth Engagement and Diversion Officers and Volunteer Police Cadet coordinators.

This years conference covered topics on hate crime legislation and procedures, alcohol and the teenage brain, witchcraft and forced marriage. Officers were also made aware of the Tellmi App and Rescue and Response which is a county lines project in London.

We were pleased to have a total of 324 attendees, including officers from Avon and Somerset, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, City of London, Derbyshire, South-Wales, Suffolk, Sussex, Thames Valley, Transport for London, Wiltshire, and Warwickshire.
