Families in conflict in Bexley

Using a restorative approach to resolve conflict

Two families were in conflict; creating incidents in and out of the school between both children and parents.

Restorative Justice was used by the Safer Schools Officer (SSO) - Both families including children brought together in a room, which was chaired by the SSO.

The families started off very tense but once all had spoken in a controlled manor using taught restorative practice techniques both families moved forward without further incidents and left on very good terms. Allowing the families to listen to each others thoughts and fears gave them the ability to move forward and end the conflict.

This was not recorded as a crime. This was simply a tool to help two families end a conflict.
