Improving safety in Havering

We had a problem with some youths attending our school gates with what we believe to be knives. I was personally threatened by the young person. The Response Team who attended were not helpful and minimised the situation for myself, my students and my staff.

However, my Safer Schools Officer contacted me (even although it was his day off) and assured me that there would be a Police presence the next day.

He arranged for a strong Police presence at the beginning and end of each day. He arranged for the immediate vicinity of the school to be searched for weapons.

The outcome was that we all felt safe and supported. The Police presence prevented any further escalation of the situation. Students felt safe to come to school. Andy also attended strategy meetings to discuss the incident.
